Ferrari Land at PortAventura, Tarragona is going absolutely viral on TikTok for good reason. Red Force — Europe's tallest and fastest rollercoaster — does 0 to 180km/h in five seconds. Even seasoned thrill-seekers describe it as terrifying in the best possible way.
And here's the thing UK families don't always realise: you can do Ferrari Land on a genuinely tight budget.
Getting there from the UK
The most cost-effective way from the UK is to drive. Dover to Calais (Eurotunnel, from £50 return), then drive through France into Spain — about 14 hours total or split across two days.
Budget accommodation en route: campsites in France from £15/night. The French motorway tolls cost around €80 each way — annoying but worth it.
Flying is faster — Bristol/Manchester/London to Barcelona from around £80 return per person during spring term. EasyJet and Ryanair both fly direct. PortAventura is 90 minutes from Barcelona airport by train (€6 each way on RENFE).
Where to stay
The Ferrari Land resort hotels are genuinely magical but expensive. For budget families:
- Camping La Pineda — 10 minutes from the park, pitches from €20/night, genuinely brilliant - Apartments in Salou — the town 5 minutes away, full apartments from €60/night for a family
Ticket prices and pass discounts
Gate price for Ferrari Land only: around €38 adults, €30 children. Combined PortAventura + Ferrari Land: around €75 adults.

The Red Force experience
Nothing prepares you for Red Force. The launch is the most violent acceleration most people will ever experience. Even adults who ride coasters regularly describe it as exceptional. Minimum height 140cm — so younger children won't be able to ride, but the rest of Ferrari Land has plenty for them.
Is it worth the trip from the UK?
For a family who wants a European holiday with theme park thrills AND sun AND something genuinely unique — absolutely yes. Budget carefully and the whole trip for a family of four (including flights, 5 nights, park tickets) can be done for around £1,200-1,500.
That's less than a week at some UK holiday parks.
