With so many UK theme parks to choose from, picking the right one for your family can be genuinely difficult. We've visited them all — many of them multiple times — to give you the definitive 2026 guide.
1. Flamingo Land, Yorkshire — Best Overall Family Value
The combination of theme park and zoo makes Flamingo Land the UK's best value family day out. Yes, SIK is incredible for thrill-seekers. But even if your kids are too young for the big coasters, the zoo element means you'll have a brilliant day regardless of the weather.
Rating: 9/10 for families
2. Alton Towers, Staffordshire — Best for Thrills + Young Kids Together
Alton Towers is the only UK park that genuinely caters brilliantly for both toddlers (CBeebies Land is exceptional) AND teenagers (Nemesis, Oblivion, The Smiler). If you have a wide age range in your family, this is your park.
Rating: 9/10
3. Paultons Park (Peppa Pig World), Hampshire — Best for Under-8s
If your children are under 8, Paultons is the best theme park in the UK for them. Full stop. Immaculately maintained, everything works, staff are brilliant. The only drawback: older kids will find it a bit tame.
Rating: 10/10 for under-8s, 6/10 overall
4. Chessington World of Adventures, Surrey — Best for Younger Families in the South
Chessington threads the needle brilliantly for families with children aged 4-12. The zoo adds enormous value. London families — this is your go-to.
Rating: 8/10
5. Blackpool Pleasure Beach — Best Traditional British Experience
There is nothing quite like Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The vintage 1930s Big Dipper, the terrifying Big One, the energy of the seafront — it's quintessentially British and absolutely brilliant.
Rating: 8/10
